I understand that many of you might be tired of hearing people boast about their accomplishments. I'm not here to add to that noise.
Instead, I'm sharing my story to encourage those who, like me, might feel discouraged about pursuing their CPA dreams because of being out of school for too long or balancing a full-time job and a family.
My journey took a non-traditional route. I started at a four-year college but left after one semester, uncertain about my path. I spent a year and a half taking general education classes at a local community college before settling on accounting. While working nights, I earned my associate's degree. In 2012, right after graduating, I entered the finance field and started a family. Several years later, I pursued a bachelor's degree in accounting while juggling a full-time job and family responsibilities. Graduating in 2017, I've been steadily climbing the ladder in corporate accounting. Though I toyed with the idea of obtaining my CPA license many times, life's demands always seemed to get in the way. About a year ago, I decided it was now or never. Today, I stand as living proof that it's never too late.
The journey was incredibly challenging, as many of you can relate, but it's not insurmountable. Whether you've been out of school for years, are working full-time, or have a family to care for, you can achieve this goal. If I can do it, so can you. It won't be easy or enjoyable, but it's entirely achievable.
My hope is that my story inspires those considering embarking on this journey, especially those who find themselves in similar circumstances. Whether you're just starting out, contemplating giving up (I certainly had my moments during those intense study sessions), or feeling burned out nearing the finish line, remember: you can do it!
Wishing you all the best of luck and boundless motivation on your journey!
I work with many people who are the same age as me, and many of them act as though they are practically dead. I am in my early 40s. Well done for never being scared to develop and evolve! Fantastic role model for your children.
Finally, this is the 'I'm A CPA!' post I've eagerly awaited. It's incredibly inspiring. Thank you, OP, and congratulations. You've earned this achievement through your dedicated efforts in pursuing the CPA, managing your family, and navigating life's challenges. I hope the burden lifted off your shoulders brings you genuine relaxation, smiles, and, above all, immense pride in yourself. Embrace your role as a proud father, husband, and now... a CPA! Congratulations once more, sir.
Congratulations! Our stories align closely, as I too will be taking my first test in November. Some days, it can indeed feel daunting, but finding solace in stories of others who navigated similar challenges and succeeded is truly encouraging!
Congratulations! I'm driven by my two daughters, they inspire me to persevere and see this through. Balancing studies amidst life's chaos isn't simple, but you've achieved it! Your story is truly inspiring and fuels my determination to press on. Thank you for sharing.
